Merry Christmas!!!

On December 25, Christians around the world will gather to celebrate Jesus’ birth. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety all over the world. Christmas was not among the earliest festivals of the Christians. The exact date of the birth of Christ was unanimously fixed some two centuries after his death, as the Catholic Church began to establish its tradition. Now Christmas is celebrated on 25th December in Catholic, Protestant and most orthodox churches.

Christmas is not only a Christian festival. The celebration has roots in the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah, the festivals of the ancient Greeks, the beliefs of the Druids and the folk customs of Europe. Christmas is thought by most to be a wonderful time, focusing the participants on giving, family togetherness, beautiful music and decorations, feasting on special foods and singing Christmas carols throughout the neighborhood. All of this is supposedly centered on the worship of Christ.

The period of celebration varies in different countries. Christmas season traditionally runs for twelve days following the Christmas Day. Christmas period has grown much longer in some countries including the United States. It begins many weeks before. During Christmas people enjoy shopping and meet one another. The celebration continues up to New Year's Day.

The numerous customs related to Christmas vary from country to country. Most of the familiar traditional practices and symbols of Christmas is Christmas tree, the Christmas ham. The Christmas tree is believed to have first been used in Germany. Gift giving is a near-universal part of Christmas celebrations.

Christmas is a time for family and friends to get together and exchange gifts. Joyful carols, special liturgies, brightly wrapped gifts, festive foods—these all characterize the feast today, at least in the northern hemisphere. Natural Fibres Export wishing you a wonderful Holiday Season, and a New Year filled with Peace and Happiness may your Christmas be Happy and Bright!!

Interior Design Ideas: Rugs and Carpet Flooring Design

Rugs and Carpets

Difference between Rugs and Carpets:

Rugs and carpets are interchangeable in many countries, primarily in Asian countries. To most people carpets and rugs are the same, but this is not the case. They both serve different purposes in a home. Carpets and rugs are floor coverings that are used for style, warmth and comfort.

Carpet denotes a wall-to-wall, installed floor covering and rug refers to a floor covering that covers an area of a room. An entire house can be given a unified look with wall-to-wall carpet. With rugs redecorating is easy because area rugs can be moved from room to room with little effort. Wall-to-wall carpet becomes a part of the structure, while area rugs are portable.

Carpets made to be thicker and in large quantities, they are mostly machine made and only have select designs and patterns, while rugs can also be handmade and have various designs along with depicting historical scenes. Rugs can also be hung up on a wall. Rugs are expensive compared to carpets and are more delicate in nature.

A rug is generally softer, with vibrant colors and bold patterns. They can be used as focal point within a room and leave a lot of bare floor underneath. A carpet will cover the entire floor wall to wall in warmth and softness but isn’t much for bringing a room to life. Area rugs are available in patterns with bright colors, which are well suited to add a splash of color to a room. Carpets may be best suited for spaces requiring a single, neutral color.

Materials play a rather large factor in the differentiating of carpets and rugs. Most carpets are made from handmade materials; often carpets are mixed materials such as wool and polypropylene. Whereas rugs are more luxurious and use materials such as wool, cotton, jute or for higher end rugs; silk.

A carpet requires constant attention, such as vacuuming and requires profession cleaning in case of extensive damages. Rugs are also easier to move, clean and do not require professional help for installment. Rugs are much easier to clean and often can be placed into a large washing machine.

Carpets are thicker compared to rugs and have a more luxurious feel to it. Carpets are also treated with stain resistant chemicals, while rugs are not. Rugs can also be passed on generation to generation and can be taken with you when shifting houses, which is not possible in case of carpets.
